Monthly Wrap-up: May 2021

Monthly Wrap-up: May 2021

Hello, everyone! May is officially over and we are almost halfway through the year! How fast time flies …
It’s time for a monthly wrap-up 🙂

My May turned out to be quite productive compared to last month in which I only read 5 books.
I was on a huge cosy-mystery kick in the first half of the month but I started to branch out into different genres in the second half.
I ended up predominantly reading cosy mysteries and women’s fiction this month, but I figure that’s what I need given the current state of my mind and am going to keep things that way.

I didn’t even realize I read as many as 17 books in May until I wrote up this post – I am quite surprised!

Of course, some of the cosy mysteries are less than 100 pages and took no time to get through, yet I am still happy with how my May turned out.

Here’s the breakdown of genres that I read in May:

Cosy Mystery : 7 books
Romantic Comedy / Contemporary Romance: 3 books
Young Adult: 1 book
Psychological Thriller: 1 book
Mystery : 2 books
Regency Romance: 1 book
Classics: 2 books

Sprinkle with Murder
Strawberry Crunch & Murder
Peanut Butter Fudge & Murder
Assaulted Caramel
Best Friends Forever
Cupcakes & Conspiracies
The Mysterious Affair at Styles

I tremendously enjoyed reading cosies and women’s fiction this month. When we are striving to survive hectic days, what we really need is a bit of balm to our minds and souls – in my case, it must be lighter reads!

Come June (which is tomorrow), I’m starting my 20 Books of Summer reading challenge.
I am super stoked to whittle down my summer reads TBR!

There you have it; this is my May wrap-up. I had a very productive month, and I hope My June will be the same!

How about you? What was your April like? Comment below and let me know 🙂

Thank you so much for dropping by. Stay safe and happy reading ❤

  1. What an excellent month, Noriko! That’s a great number. I’m actually embarrassed to do my wrap-up for May. 😆 Hoping for a better June now that things are calming down though. It is hard to believe we are practically half way through the year! Hope everything else is going well with you. Enjoy your week! 😃

    1. We’ve all been there, Misty! Look at how miserable I did last month (I mean April)… I only read 5 books!! 🤣
Our mood and inclination play a huge role in how much reading we get done in a month; sometimes we just want to do something else.
I am looking forward to seeing your wrap-up then!
